Fabio Mineo has joined the board of directors of import company Simba, part of the Mediterranean region's largest fresh produce importer and distributor, GF Group.
The company's board will now consist of its president Raffaella Orsero, managing director Alessandro Canalella and directors Antonio Orsero and Daniele Gazzano alongside Mineo.
Hailing from the central-north Italian region of Lombardy, Mineo brings to Simba more than a decade's experience of working in the fresh produce sector, having worked most recently as general operations manager at Milan-based importer-exporter Spreafico, which he joined in January 2011.
According to Simba, he has been assigned two main roles at the company: firstly, to source produce from overseas and, secondly, to coordinate all related activities.
"This appointment, in line with our company strategy, is designed to reinforce the presence that we already have in procurement markets for our products," commented
Alessandro Canalella.
"Thanks to this collaboration with Mr Mineo, we will be aiming to expand the service offered to our customers, increasing our efficiency and ability to react to the various requests that arrive from different strategic markets."
With offices and facilities in Italy, France, Costa Rica and Colombia, Simba has been importing tropical and exotic fruit for more than 35 years and has an annual turnover of around €200m.
