Fruitnet Forum Middle East, the new Dubai-based conference event focusing on the latest trends in the Gulf, will feature a discussion with Paul James Morgan, fruit and vegetables category manager at leading retailer Spinneys.
Taking place on 4 December, the day before the WOP Dubai exhibition opens its doors, Fruitnet Forum Middle East presents a day of discussions and networking opportunities to help connect complementary businesses in the region.
As the region’s retailers rapidly develop their power and influence over the supply chain, Morgan will be on hand to talk about the challenges of importing direct and the increasing demand from consumers for local and organic products, as well as for online deliveries and fresh-cut and convenience products.
Morgan will also discuss Spinneys’ “I Am Imperfect” line of misshapen or “ugly” fruit and vegetables, a measure the retailer introduced earlier this year to reduce waste in the supply chain.
Morgan has been involved in the buying and sourcing of fresh food for nine years, starting his career in the fresh produce department at Musgrave Retail Partners GB, managing categories for the Budgens and Londis brands. After four years purchasing fruit, vegetables, fish and meat he joined Sainsbury’s to work in the food-to-go category before making his move to the Middle East.
