Special Fruit has announced in a press release that the Belgian import-export group has entered into a cooperation agreement and partnership with Trujillo-based Del Sol Fresh Peru.
The partnership, which took effect on 1 January, aims to streamline the distribution chain and equally benefit both customers and consumers, according to the company.
“With the two companies’ specific knowledge and experience in the fresh produce business, Special Fruit finds in Del Sol an ideal partner for our strategy and vision for key product management and produce imports from Peru,” explained Special Fruit director Francois Maes.
“We believe our combined experience and commercial networks will contribute to continued growth for years to come.”
Under the deal, Del Sol Fresh will handle all theimport processes from Peruvian suppliers on behalf of Special Fruit.
In the case of asparagus and avocados, Del Sol Fresh becomes Special Fruit’s product manager year-round and will handle the two products from a number of different origins.
Special Fruit currently imports a range of fresh produce from Peru, including: asparagus (green, white and tips), avocados, table grapes, limes, mangoes, pomegranates, snow peas and sugar snaps.
The company said it is now looking to expand its product portfolio with other items.
