Austrian grocery retailer Spar is set to open smaller supermarkets with a sales area of some 900m2 in the Czech Republic, according to just-food.com.
The move expands on the group's existing Czech store network, which currently stands at 33 Interspar hypermarkets and superstores as well as four large Spar supermarkets.
'We made this decision because smaller formats are becoming more popular as people – due to a faster lifestyle – want to do their shopping quickly,' said a Spar spokesperson.
