lemons

Ailimpo has released its forecast for the 2012/13 Spanish lemon campaign, with volumes expected to come in at between 850,000 and 900,000 tonnes.

These figures mark a 10-15 per cent reduction on the previous year, when production hit a provisional 1m tonnes, the interprofessional lemon association noted.

However, the final figure of this year's crop will depend on size evolution as well as potential rainfall in the autumn, the group said.

Ailimpo said that the crop size was 'sufficient' in terms of volumes going to customers, while noting that fruit quality was 'very good' for the predicted October start to the season.
