Spanish citrus exporters from the Valencian province of Castellón are hoping to open new commercial avenues in Latin America, with a trial shipment and trade visit backed by the region’s ministry of agriculture.
Clementine exporters from the province are set to send a collective citrus shipment to Brazil, which will be followed by the commercial mission to the continent through which the companies are aiming to establish new routes to market.
The export group, which is receiving support from Valencia’s ministry of agriculture, is hoping the trade visit and test shipment will prove more successful than a similar initiative carried out last year to Dubai, which did not achieve the hoped for results, reports regional daily Las Provincias.
In addition to Brazil, Castellon’s citrus sector will also be exporting substantial volumes of clementines to Russia, Germany, France, Poland and the US.
