Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture has distributed more than 30,000 leaflets in the country’s supermarkets and shopping centres promoting the quality, variety and safety of Spanish vegetables following the recent German E.coli outbreak.
Although the outbreak was initially, and wrongly, linked to Spanish cucumbers, sales of Spanish vegetables have fallen both domestically and across Europe over recent weeks as a consequence.
In response, the Spanish government has produced the leaflets, which highlight the benefits of eating a wide range of vegetables, including peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans, under the slogan, ‘This season’s vegetables are now here – with complete confidence’.
The Ministry of Agriculture has also produced 5,000 posters for display in supermarkets and prominent locations, which again carry the message of confidence in Spanish-produced vegetables.
