Blueberry production in southern Chile has been hampered by a cold snap, with frosts hitting volumes and potentially impacting on exports.
According to estimates released by the Chilean Blueberry Committee based on a report by iQonsulting, production in the region is likely to be hit by 5,000 tonnes, scaling down exports by 2,932 tonnes, Fresh Fruit Portal reported.
The iQonsulting report stated that the losses would impact on both the fresh and frozen blueberry sectors.
Fresh Fruit Portal said that there would be reduced peaks between mid-January and the end of the export deal.
