Company debuts Felcon vertical centrifuge and MP-400 melon and pumpkin peeler and upgrades FS-3600 slice and wedge cutter

Sormac, the leading supplier of fruit and vegetable processing machinery, has expanded its product range through the acquisition of the Felcon (formerly Feltracon) machines. Felcon is renowned for its vertical centrifuges, ideal for drying hard vegetables such as iceberg lettuce, cabbage, carrots and onions. These machines perfectly complement our products, allowing us to offer an even more comprehensive range.

Sormac’s commercial director, Roy Lemmen, commented: “With Felcon’s centrifuges, we have strengthened our ability to resolve our customers’ drying challenges. The FE-510 has undergone further development in line with Sormac’s standards. It has become the FE-540, and along with the FE-810 centrifuge, this supports our capacity to offer the best solutions for every type of vegetable”.

In addition, Sormac is introducing the MP-400 melon and pumpkin peeler, which can peel almost all types of melons and pumpkins at a capacity of up to 400 pieces per hour. The addition of the MP-400 makes our product portfolio more comprehensive than ever.

Meanwhile, Sormac has announced a major upgrade to its FS-3600 slice and wedge cutter, described as a long-time favourite in the market for processing medium-sized vegetables and fruit such as tomatoes, onions, limes, apples and kiwifruit, with a capacity of up to 4,000 pieces an hour.

“Based on customer feedback, in collaboration with its partner Foodcons GmbH & Co KG, Sormac we have improved the machine further still. The result is more options and increased ease of use.

The main updates include a new “Smart filling” function allowing trays to be filled precisely with the desired quantity, in a specific way and in the correct quantities.

Furthermore, the FS-3600 can now be equipped with three types of conveyor belts, tailored to the specified processing: a standard conveyor, suitable for any product with any cut; the cup conveyor for cutting slices and, finally, the tray conveyor for accurately filling trays with pre-programmed software.

“Because of its ‘Z’ design, the packaging platform is now at an ergonomic working height of 810 mm,” Sormac said, adding that the new software now provides step-by-step instructions for correct configuration.
