Serbia's total exports of goods to Russia soared by 55 per cent in 2010, boosted by a major jump in the volume and value of fresh apple shipments to the country.

The country's total exports amounted to US$541m (€397m), according to balkans.com, with the major driver being the quadrupling of apple volumes to 70,445 tonnes.

The value of apple exports to Russia climbed from US$7.9m (€5.8m) in 2009 to US$33.2m (€24.4m) for the first 11 months, the publication reported.

Poslovno Jutro said that the largest exporters of fresh apples were PIK Juzni Banat Bela Crkva, EvroAgroKop Smederevo, Subotica Agroprom, Magic Fruts Lend Sabac, Nashville frut M and M Pozarevac, Botunjac Subotica, Ltd. Association of Subotica, Subotica Makbel, Stefan Treid Parcani and PKB Metohijavino Belgrade.
