Spanish fresh produce companies have began to make their preparations for this year’s Fruit Attraction trade fair in Madrid, Spain, which is expected to be substantially larger in terms of both exhibitors and visitors than last year’s inaugural event.
According to co-organisers Fepex and Ifema, the 2010 event, which will be staged at the Spanish capital’s Feria de Madrid conference centre from 20-22 October, will feature 450 exhibitors covering 11,000m2 of space – an 11 per cent increase compared with 2009.
Some 80 per cent of these exhibitors will be producer companies, while the remainder will be drawn from the auxiliary service sector.
More significantly, Fruit Attraction 2010 will include a significant presence from Spanish regions that featured little in the debut edition, including Castile and Leon, Navarra, the Basque Country and, notably given its importance as a production region, Valencia.
On an international level, the event will feature greater representation from France, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Algeria, the Netherlands and Argentina, among others.
Murcia-based exporter group Hortiberia said that Fruit Attraction had the potential to become one of the leading events for the sector, adding that its member companies viewed the fair as the “perfect showcase” for its products.
Major Spanish potato marketing company Ibérica de Patatas will also be present at Fruit Attraction with Sol Patata, a product that it claims generates 70 per cent less carbon dioxide emissions during its production.
Outside Spain, the trade fair will play host to a large French delegation, organised by export promotion board Sopexa, which will feature leading companies, including Blue Whale, Prim’land, BVL and UGPban.Spanish fresh produce companies have began to make their preparations for this year’s Fruit Attraction trade fair in Madrid, Spain, which is expected to be substantially larger in terms of both exhibitors and visitors than last year’s inaugural event.
