Seatrade, the Netherlands-based global shipping group of companies, has announced that long-serving chairman Marnix van Overklift is retiring to pursue private business interests and professional activities in the shipping community.
Mr van Overklift ends a 36-year spell with Seatrade, during which he helped build the group into a leading player in the international reefer industry.
In a statement, Seatrade said that it owed Mr van Overklift gratitude for 'decades of hard work' for the company.
'Marnix van Overklift has given a substantial and valuable contribution to the reefer industry as well as to the national and international shipping community, leaving behind a healthy and viable group of companies well positioned to go forward into the future,' the statement read. 'His contributions will remain a guiding beacon to all associated with the Seatrade name.'
As a result of Mr van Overklift's departure, Gerry Pepping has assumed various responsibilities within the group.
