Seatrade, the Belgium-based global shipping group of companies, has added the Amer Shipping reefer fleet to its portfolio of vessels following the conclusion of a transaction.
Seven of the ten ships purchased currently operate in the NYKCool pool, while three operate in the Seatrade pool. The vessels will be delivered to their respective new owners by the end of December 2008.
Of the ships, the Amer Choapa, Ivory Tirapatu and Amer Annapurna will be owned by Baltic, the Amer Whitney, Amer Fuji, Amer Himalaya, Kedernath and Badrinath by Seatrade, and the Amer Everest and Kailash by Laskaridis.
'Seatrade continues to seek opportunities to acquire additional vessels to its fleet, which has recently been demonstrated with the new-building program of eight reefers and the purchase of the five Phoenix types, Atlantic and Pacific Reefer as well as the Maritime del Norte Fleet,' the group said in a statement.
Seatrade operates a fleet of over 150 specialised reefers, a cargo capacity of over 55m cubic feet or space to load some 480,000 pallets under deck.
