Schwarz Group has revealed that it is anticipating sales growth of 7 per cent this year, after the German retail operator reported on sales growth of approximately 10 per cent in 2010.
According to a report by Lebensmittel Zeitung, net sales climbed by €5.2bn last year, up to €60bn, with profits in line with sales growth.
The German group's Kaufland hypermarkets and superstores contributed around €18bn to sales, the publication said, while the Lidl discount division saw sales stand at €42bn from more than 9,000 outlets.
New markets for the group last year included Serbia and Lithuania, with Turkey a possible option for Lidl, Planet Retail said.
