French president Nicolas Sarkozy has stepped in to ease the suffering of the country's fruit and vegetables producers during the current crisis.
Mr Sarkozy yesterday warned retailers that unless they came to an agreement to moderate their margins on perishable products during a time of crisis, they would face a tax.
Distributors have until the month of May to reach an agreement, according to a report in Ouest France.
