SanLucar has teamed up with Valencian citrus producer Llusar y Cía to donate thousands of kilos of mandarins to elderly care home residents caught up in the cornonavirus crisis.
With the help of the National Police and the Army, 2,000kg of citrus have been distributed to ten nursing homes located in the cities of Valencia and Castellón.
“The strong impact of the coronavirus in Spanish care homes is something we could not stand by and ignore,” said the founder of the SanLucar Group, Stephan Rötzer.
“We have always launched social actions at SanLucar, related to the promotion of health and nutrition. And now more than ever, we must show our strong commitment to the society and to the business philosophy that guides our activity: Taste in harmony with people and nature.”
Rötzer added that in these times of uncertainty, agricultural producers have the responsibility to keep society supplied with basic products such as fresh fruit.
“But we must also go one step further and support those groups that are suffering the most from the impact of this crisis,” he said.
“Our citrus fruits are a traditional Valencian product with which the elderly are familiar, so we felt the need to give them this gift,” said Jorge Llusar, from Llusar y Cía.
