In the Netherlands, Super de Boer has reported on a 3.9 per cent increase in fourth quarter sales, from €638m in 2008 to €663m, boosted in part by an extra trading week compared with the previous year.
Higher Christmas sales also boost the quarterly result, rising 4.4 per cent on a year-on-year basis, according to Super de Boer.
Super de Boer was acquired by Jumbo last month in a deal amounting to €552.5m, having been previously owned by French retailer Casino.
