Super de Boer

Dutch retailer Super de Boer has revealed that second-quarter sales increased 5.1 per cent on a year-on-year basis, with consumer sales up to €488m from €480m last year.

Year-on-year net sales hit €391m from €379m in 2008, with average weekly sales per store increasing to €134,950 despite the group operating 10 fewer outlets than in 2008.

'In the second quarter of this year, Super de Boer recorded consumer sales of €488m with on average 11 fewer stores than in 2008,' said group CEO Jan Brouwer. 'Average sales per store in the second quarter grew by 5.1 per cent to €135,000 per week. We are satisfied with these results.'

For 2009, the group added that their strategy would include modernising 50-60 stores, investing €20m in company operated outlets, strengthening the group's own label range and price positioning, and strengthening local marketing efforts.
