Walmart Chile has seen overall group revenues climb 14.3 per cent during the first quarter of the year, climbing to CLP587bn (US$1.2bn), Planet Retail has reported.
According to retail analyst, net income came to CLP33bn (US$69m) through the quarter, a significant year-on-year improvement when compared with the net loss of CLP9.8bn (US$18.9m) recorded in the same period of 2010.
Walmart Chile opened some 31 new stores over the past 12 months, consisting of 13 Acuenta and 12 Ekono discount stores, five Express de Lider supermarkets and one Hiper Lider hypermarket.
