Taylor Farms, Pacific Coast Fruit Company and River Ranch Fresh Foods are all recalling various salad items distributed on the US market because of possible health risks.
California-based Taylor Farms initiated its voluntary recall yesterday (Tuesday 22 May) for its organic baby spinach in clamshells following the discovery of salmonella in a random test conducted on a finished package of spinach by USDA.
On the same day, Pacific Coast Fruit Company of Portland, Oregon, announced it is recalling multiple types of bagged processed salads based on the potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes.
At the weekend, California’s River Ranch Fresh Foods expanded its voluntary recall of retail and foodservice bagged salads, because they have the potential of being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Pacific Coast Fruit Company also utilised a portion of the salads that were recalled by River Ranch in some of its retail and food service processed bagged salads.
Meanwhile, Texan importer-distributor Caribe Produce is recalling Caribeña-branded Maradol papayas from Mexico.
