Sainsbury's has announced two major appointments to its internet business, with Jon Rudoe joining the retailer as director of online and Tanya Lawler appointed to the new role of director of digital.

Rudoe was previously head of retail, covering marketing, website and products, at Waitrose-allied online grocery retailer Ocado, where Sainsbury’s said he achieved “consistent sales growth”.

At Sainsbury's, he will have responsibility for the day-to-day running of Sainsbury's online grocery and non-food business. Sainsbury's has over 120,000 online grocery orders each week and over 15,000 products are available on its non-food website.

Currently director of direct channels, Tanya Lawler is taking up the new role as Sainsbury's director of digital. In her new position, Lawler will have responsibility for developing and implementing Sainsbury's digital and cross channel strategy across the business.
