Russia this week announced the suspension of imports of canned fruit and vegetables, as well as fish, from neighbouring Ukraine.
The country's chief consumer regulator, Rospotrebnadzor, cited violations of legal requirements concerning the protection of consumer rights by several Ukrainian producers, including improper labelling, a lack of nutrients and insufficient mass in sold goods.
According to a statement from the regulator reported by Nasdaq, the indefinite ban was decided upon following the inspection of a number of factories and canning facilities last week.
The decision follows last week's move by Russia to ban imports of milk and milk products from Ukraine.
