OTC Canada, the recently established subsidiary of OTC Holland, has officially opened its doors with the start of the South African organic stonefruit season.
According to the group, the first airfreighted peaches and nectarines are of very good quality. Regular supplier Pro Plum Orchards is the only grower in South Africa who cultivates organic stonefruit.
Due to a favourable growing season and good soil condition, Pro Plum Orchards expects a good stonefruit season. To ensure continuity the fruit is grown under hail nets.
Pro Plum Orchards is a family business with 160 acres of organic stonefruit growing area, located in the Limpopo Highlands. After harvesting, the products are stored in a fully equipped state of the art warehouse. The products are transported to O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg using refrigerated transport. From there the cooled products are flown to Canada.
Besides peaches and nectarines, the group also offer nectarcots, apricots, yellow and red plums. In early December, OTC Holland expects to launch the South African stonefruit campaign in Europe. The products are packed under the purple house label MmmBio.
The recently opened office in Woodbridge, Toronto, will be OTC’s import and service provider on the North American market for flavourful fresh organic produce with guaranteed organic integrity. Key products include stonefruit, citrus and table grapes from South Africa, as well as a range of other produce from Latin America and Europe.
