Romanian group Hortifruct has revealed that it is looking to grow its production volumes during 2013, with domestic demand growing and new export markets being targeted.
According to the Business Review, Hortifruct is looking to boost its volumes from 36,000 tonnes in 2012 to 38,000 tonnes, growth of 5.5 per cent, the majority of which will be represented by higher cucumber and tomato volumes.
'Both larger crops as well as demand for local produce lead us to believe that Romanian fruit and vegetables will have a strong comeback,' Hortifruct manager Valeria Trica told the publication.
Some 35 per cent of the producer organisations total production this year will be exported to countries including Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, with new export markets being targeted in the future.
