Golden Wing Mau (GWM) has announced the appointment of Rod Hill as general manager import, to replace present incumbent Roland Gels, who has resigned due to family commitments.
President and CEO of Golden Wing Mau, Mau Wah Liu, said the company was disappointed at Gels’ departure from a role he has occupied since 2014, but wished him for the future and thanked him for his dedication during what proved to be a very difficult import season for China.
Rod Hill will now take over his old position on 31 August 2015, which he previously held until October 2014 when he returned to the UK to work on special projects for GWM.
The group said in a statement that Hill’s extensive fruit industry expertise in Capespan and Golden Wing Mau would be well suited to further develop and drive its import strategy by building strong alliances and growing the business.
Following the recent announcement that Capespan in Asia and Golden Wing Mau will be consolidating their supply and procurement expertise from South Africa under a single structure, Hill will be 'instrumental' in putting this structure in place, the company added.
