QV Foods has been selected by an expert panel of produce industry judges as the Processor of the Year at the Re:fresh Awards, which took place in London, UK on 13 May.
The event marked the first time in the Awards' seven-year history that the processing industry had been included as a category, with QV landing the award in recognition of its significant change of direction in the past two years.
Nigel Jenney, CEO of the Fresh Produce Consortium and chair of the judging panel, noted that QV had been chosen as the winner for 'excellence in product and process innovation ' that had delivered growth for the business.
On accepting the award, QV director Simon Martin said that the award was a tremendous accolade for the group, and was recognition for the hard work that the group had put in over the past few years.
'The Re:fresh Awards are the only industry-wide awards for fruit and vegetable companies,' said Mr Martin. 'Both being a winner and a finalist validates your business ethos and the direction in which you are heading as a company and I believe it also reflects the influence and impact you have on the environment you work in.
'To be recognised by colleagues and competitors in your own field is significant, and in a competitive industry such as ours, where there are so many companies doing a good job for their customers and for the consumer, it really gives us something to be proud of and, most importantly, build on,' he added.
