Grocery retailer Auchan has moved to reassure its Russian consumers that it will freeze prices of basic goods, including fresh produce, after some analysts in the country had warned about the potential for price increases this year.
According to Russian publication Rusnovosti, Auchan's head of external corporate communications in the country Maria Kursonov had said that prices of products would remain the same until March this year.
According to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), the price of goods in Russia increased 11.4 per cent, with ruble fluctuations and global market instability expected to impact prices further this year.
