generic traceability

In the US, the Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) has announced that it is forming industry-led working groups to guide its activities moving forward.

The group, which has been established to help the country's fresh produce industry maximise traceback procedures and standardise its traceability practices, has invited industry members from across the supply chain to volunteer their time and expertise to one or more of the new working groups.

Volunteers will be asked to assist in four group categories, including Implementation, Master Data, Industry Communications and Technology, the PTI noted.

In addition, volunteers are being sought to participate in PTI-designed pilot projects or to work in the development of case studies of pilot projects their companies have completed.

Meanwhile, GS1 US has joined the Canadian Produce Marketing Association, the Produce Marketing Association and the United Fresh Produce Association as a PTI administering organisation.
