traceability

The Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) is looking to gauge the North American fresh fruit and vegetable industry’s adoption of PTI milestones via a new online survey.

According to PTI, the survey is open to all businesses in the produce supply chain and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

The survey is online only and will close on Friday, 5 April, with results due to be shared publicly once they have been computed and analysed.

The website also provides access to the PTI Action Plan Implementation Toolkit with advice and resources on how to achieve the seven milestones for implementation of the scheme.

The Produce Traceability Initiative is sponsored by Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA), GS1 US, the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) and United Fresh Produce Association.

It is designed to help the industry maximise the effectiveness of current traceback procedures, while developing a standardised industry approach to enhance the speed and efficiency of traceability systems for the future.

The PTI’s vision outlines a course of action to achieve supply chain-wide adoption of electronic traceability of every case of produce by 2012.
