New Zealand kiwifruit

In New Zealand, Kiwifruit Vine Health (KVH) has announced that it has received a PSA-V positive test result on a male vine in an Enza Gold kiwifruit orchard in Kerikeri, marking the first confirmed case of the vine-killing disease in the region.

KVH, the biosecurity group formed to manage the threat of Psa, has now developed a set of controlled area protocols for growers in the Kerikeri area, including the requirement for orchardists to develop a management plan.

Meanwhile, there has been a further positive Psa-V test result in a Hayward orchard located in Matamata, Waikato – the seventh in the region, including Te Awamutu and Karapiro – with the controlled area now extending to the Matamata area.

And KVH also announced that it had received a second positive result for an orchard in Hawkes Bay, located near Taradale and within the existing Hawkes Bay controlled area.
