Spanish fresh produce export consortium Proexport is to receive a corporate social responsibility award for its management of natural resources and efforts to reduce pesticide use in Murcia region.
The group, which will be awarded with the prize at the region of Murcia’s Fourth Sustainable Development Awards on 12 April at the city of Murcia’s Museum of Fine Arts, is being recognised for voluntary initiatives put in place by its member companies to improve their environmental and social practices.
“This award indicates that we are taking the right path in the work that our association and our associated companies are carrying out to achieve ever more sustainable fresh produce production,” said Proexport’s director, Fernando Gómez.
In a statement, Proexport said its associated companies focused on responsible production policies that complied with regional, national and international standards, while also looking to achieve the efficient management of resources and a reduction in pesticide usage.
