Proexport has signed an agreement with Banco Santander giving the Murcian exporter association’s member companies and their employees favourable rates for the bank’s financial products and services. Proexport’s president Juan Marín Bravo (pictured, second from the left) said the deal would provide invaluable support for the sector’s expansion into new export markets.
Santander’s regional director for Murcia (second right), Luis Rodríguez de la Fuente, said the move formed part of the bank’s specialisation strategy. “A team has been appointed to work exclusively for the agrifood sector, which we believe is of vital importance to Spain’s business interests,” he said.
Proexport is made up of 50 fresh produce grower-exporters who between them market around 1m tonnes (€900m) of fruits and vegetables annually in over 35 countries and provide direct employment for 25,000 workers.
