Food sorting tech giants, Tomra, have scooped up a silver medal at the 2018 International Foodtec Award in Belgium.
The medal was given to Tomra for its user interface Tomra Act. The interface is a software application designed for food sorting machinery.
It features a user-friendly interface with a main screen displaying critical sorting information and real-time processing data. This allows operatpors to make quick adjustments and monitor processing for optimised performance.
“The development of Tomra Act involved many in-depth discussions with customers. A key insight from the discussions was that small adjustment errors can have major consequences in terms of yield and cost,” said John McGloughlin, head of innovation, strategy and design at Tomra Sorting Food.
“The aim was to create a system that keeps even a complicated sorting task as simple as possible. I think we have met, and possibly exceeded, that objective.”
Tomra were awarded alongside five other gold medals given to technologies in the meat and packaging sector, and 11 other silver medals in the meat, packaging, frying and baked goods categories.
