Brittany-based marketer Prince de Bretagne has welcomed the start of the artichoke season following a delay caused by the spring weather conditions, including heavy rainfall.
Although daily supplies remain comfortably below those of the same period last year, the French marketer expects this to be close to peak season.
Prince de Bretagne has high hopes for the latest addition to its artichoke range, the Cardinal, which won a Saveur de l’Année 2018 award for taste.
“Communication about this distinctive label, one of the best known by French consumers (81 per cent of the population, according to an IFOP survey), will take place in-store and be highlighted on the packaging, with product sheets in the boxes and at specific points of sale,” the company revealed.
In addition to the Cardinal, Prince de Bretagne’s range also includes Camus and Castel, all of which are available in various sizes, volumes and packaging types.
While the 60cm x 40cm boxes remain the mainstay for artichokes, the marketer has also developed smaller packaging options that are popular with smaller retailers, allowing them to amend the volumes they buy and ensure higher freshness and quality.
