PrepWorld Spain, the Valencia-based joint venture set up last year by the fresh-cut division of the UK’s BerryWorld Group and soft fruit grower-marketer Surexport Compañía Agraria, is now fully operational, the company has announced.
Headed up by Pepe Morant, the new company will develop sales of innovative and high-quality fruit packs in the Spanish market. Morant said he was convinced that this approach would stimulate sales in the fresh-cut category in Spain.
Ben Olins, managing director of PrepWorld UK, said the focus on quality, innovation and the latest technology would work as well in Spain as it had in the UK.
“We think that the Spanish market is ready for this project. Our members’ experience, their production know-how and premium varieties that they have at their disposal will ensure that we provide Spanish consumers with products of outstanding quality and flavour,” said Andrés Morales, managing director of Surexport.
