NZ Gold Kiwifruit

Kiwifruit Vine Health (KVH), the body set up to manage the threat of the vine killing disease Psa in New Zealand, has noted a number of new positive detections in its latest report.

Released on 27 June, the report shows that there have been 47 newly identified results in the past week that have tested poitive for the virulent Psa-V.

Of these, 20 have been identified in Katikati, six in Tauranga West, 19 in Opotiki, one in Waihi and one in Whakatane.

'The significant increase in positive results is a result of KVH continuing to follow up with postharvest suppliers on the current state of orchards recorded with a 'not detected' status,' the group noted.

The total number of orchards with Psa-V identified is up to 2,201, impacting some 10,124ha, KVH reported.
