The Port of Los Angeles has announced that overall cargo volumes grew by 5.53 per cent during July, when compared with the same four-month period of 2011.
Imports increased by 4 per cent, from 357,667 TEUs to 371,859 TEUs, while exports grew slightly by 0.27 per cent, from 165,135 TEUs to 165,581 TEUs.
Combined, total loaded imports and exports for July increased 2.8 per cent, up to 537,440 TEUs, while factoring in empties overall volumes came to 726,375 TEUs.
For the opening seven months of the year, overall container volumes have increased 6.3 per cent to 4.7m tonnes, compared with the same period in 2011.
