The Port of Antwerp is to emphasise the importance of trade with Turkey by holding a Port Day in Istanbul on 30 May, with the aim of focusing on advantages it offers the Turkish industry, shipping companies and freight forwarders.
The event will include presentations by Antwerp Port Authority and the Belgian Administration of Customs and Excise, with some 200 participants expected to attend.
It follows a visit to Antwerp in March this year of 15 Turkish chambers of commerce, including those from economically important regions such as Istanbul, Bursa and Izmir.
Antwerp is the most important European port for Turkey, with an annual freight volume of more than 10m tonnes coming from or destined for Turkey, amounting to a market share of about 63 per cent compared with other northwest European ports.
