Jeronimo Martins has announced that it posted strong growth during the opening quarter of the year, with sales up 15.6 per cent year-on-year to hit €2.8bn.
The result was driven in the main by continued success at the company's Polish operation, Biedronka, which saw sale grow 20 per cent through the three-month period.
Domestically, the group also enjoyed an improved result, with sales at its main unit Pingo Doce growing 5.3 per cent on the same period of 2012.
Total group profit reached €75m, 10.4 per cent higher than last year.
