The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) has revealed in a news statement that it is to reach out to international members and the industry by unveiling a Spanish-language retail training tool for supermarket produce departments.

E-ssentials is a comprehensive set of retail produce training courses covering topics from customer service to merchandising, food safety and more, according to PMA, which gives produce staff the skills they need to increase sales and create a great shopping experience for customers.

It is now available in five forms: online with a Learning Management System, online without the Learning Management System, as a workbook, as a CD for those without online capability in store, and as onsite training.

All versions are now available in Spanish and will be launched at this week’s retail trade show Expo ANTAD, on 10-12 March in Guadalajara, Mexico, by vice-president of Global Business Development Nancy Tucker, who will also speak during a conference seminar.

“Mexico is a vital part of our North American supply chain and the global produce market,” said Ms Tucker. “We see ANTAD as a key show to meet with our Mexican partners, and to continue to expand our offerings to our Spanish-language members.”

Ms Tucker will speak Thursday, March 11, 2010 on the impact of economic changes on the produce industry in North America.

PMA is also exhibiting at the show, and is sending Director of Member Relations Paula Gonzalez and PMA Mexico country representative Alejandro Larreategui.

“PMA will also be back in Guadalajara on 20 May 2010 for a Fresh Connections event,” Ms Tucker added. “We’re working to finalise the details now.”
