Bryan Silbermann

Following the news last week that Jack Pandol Senior, the former head of US table grape grower-packer-exporter Pandol Brothers Incorporated, had passed away at the age of 87, Produce Marketing Association (PMA) president and CEO Bryan Silbermann has paid tribute to Mr Pandol on behalf of the organisation.

'All of us at PMA were greatly saddened to learn this week of the death of long-time produce industry leader Jack Pandol Sr,' said Mr Silbermann. 'Jack's passing is very personal to me because he was the PMA director who took me under his wing when I joined PMA as international trade manager back in 1983.'

Mr Silbermann described Mr Pandol as an industry pioneer who left his mark on the way many in the industry do business, and a leader in creating and expanding the produce trade between the US and Latin America as well as Asia.

'On behalf of the entire PMA family, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Jack's family and friends,' Mr Silbermann added. 'He will be missed, but he and his legacy will not be forgotten – indeed, it is woven into the very fabric of our increasingly global produce industry.'
