The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) has announced the hiring of Rubén Ramírez as PMA general manager in Mexico, a full-time position.
In his position, Ramírez will be a resource and in-country support for members of PMA and the industry at large, helping to connect them with PMA’s global community and information .
Ramírez’ role will focus on being a point of contact for industry members in Mexico and facilitating important business connections in the produce and floral industries.
“Rubén has been an active member of the produce industry in Mexico for a long time,” said PMA vice-president Nancy Tucker. “He works not only across the supply chain, but across country borders, having developed great business relationships throughout Central and South America. I’m thrilled he will be joining our team, and I look forward to working with him as we continue to amplify and enhance our resources and support for our members in Mexico.”
PMA has been steadily growing its presence in Mexico over the past several years, offering a yearly Fresh Connections event and other more informal networking opportunities.
This year’s Fresh Connections: Mexico was held in Guadalajara and featured former NASA astronaut and son of migrant farm workers, Jose Hernandez, attracting over 550 participants from across the produce supply chain with guests from Mexico, the US and Canada.
“The success of Fresh Connections: Mexico, as well as the hiring of Rubén Ramírez illustrates the strong commitment PMA has to engaging with and supporting the Mexican produce industry,” said Roberto Salazar of Tokonni Consulting and current chair of the PMA Mexico Country Council.
“Rubén has great experience in our industry, and he knows how to create lasting relationships not only for himself but between others as well,' Salazar added. 'I am excited to see him join PMA’s efforts to bring people together across the entire supply chain, in Mexico and across the globe.”
