The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) has announced that the final day of its annual Fresh Summit convention and exhibition has been removed from the programme schedule.

The move comes in response to a request from 90 per cent of exhibitors to make the trade show shorter, according to a statement from the organisation.

“The Fresh Summit Expo has provided an invaluable forum for connections,” PMA said. “And, with businesses always changing and innovating, PMA also needed to evolve and innovate.”

The association claims the shorter schedule means the show floor experience is only reduced by one-and-a-half hours, meaning visitors and exhibitors can still spend show time effectively and efficiently.

The shorter programme will mostly benefit exhibitors who will save costs by sending less product to the show and eliminating overtime labour during dismantling.

The 2012 edition of the PMA Fresh Summit takes place in Anaheim, Los Angeles, on 26-28 October.

The exhibition kicks off on Saturday at 10am and comes to a close on Sunday at 5pm.
