Pink Lady Europe anticipates a production volume of around 150,000 tonnes for the 2014/15 apple harvest, a 19 per cent rise over last year.
The increase has been attributed to an especially mild autumn, which served to delay harvesting and allow colouration of the fruit to develop.
All three European production areas, France, Italy and Spain, started harvesting at the end of week 43 and beginning of week 44, depending on the region.
According to Pink Lady, the campaign will be officially launched on 17 November with a special competition, which will be advertised via the web, through stickers on loose apples and with on-pack labels. The competition will reportedly close on 20 December.
