Philippe Ruelle has taken over as president of CAIFL, the international arbitration chamber for fruit and vegetables, an organisation that brings together various players in the sector from different countries.
Ruelle, who also serves as the managing director of UGPBAN, the union of banana producing groups of Martinique and Guadeloupe, and Fruidor, the sales arm of the union, replaces ex-president Philippe Gouin, according to Lsa.fr.
The goal of CAIFL is to facilitate international exchanges in the sector, fixing clear rules in a code of usage and guaranteeing the functioning of an arbitration court to resolve sales disputes.
