Philadelphia Packer Marine Terminal

Holt Logistics Corporation has announced that both CMA CGM and Maersk Line will this month launch new weekly liner container services from Central and South America to Philadelphia’s Packer Avenue Marine Terminal (PAMT) in the US.

The US port will be linked on northbound routes from San Antonio and Arica in Chile; Callao in Peru; Guayaquil in Ecuador; and also Manzanillo, Panama; Kingston, Jamaica; and Miami via CMA CGM French Line’s Black Pearl Service.

The start date for the new CMA CGM service is expected to be in mid- to late January.

Around the same time, Maersk Line will also begin offering a service to Philadelphia from Ecuador and Peru.

“We are pleased to offer two new key service lines linking us to South America,” said Thomas J. Holt, Jr., President of Astro Holdings, Inc., which leases PAMT under a long-term concession with the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority.

“It’s good to know that going into the new year that not only is our port active and healthy, but it is continuing to grow as well, with shipping giants taking a more active role in our port.

“Opening new service opportunities in Central America builds on our strong refrigerated niche. We look forward to a productive 2011.”
