Exports of Peruvian table grapes are on course to set a new record this season, writes iQonsulting. By the end of April shipments had reached 274,000 tonnes, a 23 per cent increase on the 2013/14 season.
Asia was once again the biggest market, absorbing 39 per cent of the export volume – 1 per cent more than last season. Europe’s share fell from 35 per cent in 2013/14 to 30 per cent in 2014/15, while shipments to North America saw a 29 per cent increase over the previous season and accounted for 21 per cent of the export total.
Latin America was the fastest growing market, with shipments rising from 14,000 tonnes to 24,600 tonnes, an increase of 75 per cent. This was mainly due to higher exporters to Colombia, Brazil and Ecuador.
