Peruvian banana exports for the month of April soared by 51 per cent on the same period of 2012, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) published by agraria.pe.
The Evolution of Exports and Imports report showed export increases for several fresh and dried products, including asparagus (up 14.5 per cent), avocados (up 16.3 per cent) and prepared or conserved vegetables (up 35.7 per cent).
Total non-traditional agricultural product exports came to US$120.5m in value, 4.9 per cent higher than in April 2012, led by asparagus (US$18.7m) and fresh or dried avocados (US$15.2m).
