Increase driven by growth in shipments of blueberries, avocados, citrus and other fruits
Peruvian agri-exports grew 22.1 per cent to US$12.784bn in 2024, largely led by strong growth in fruit exports, which increased by 17.8 per cent compared to 2023.
Blueberries led the way, with shipments growing by 35.7 per cent to US$2.299bn. Likewise, avocado, mandarin and lime exports also increased, registering growth of 29.2 per cent (US$1.324bn), 27.2 per cent (307 million dollars) and 25.5% (83 million dollars), respectively.
Vegetables, including chilli peppers and peppers, generated revenues of US$1.616bn, an increase of 2.6 per cent compared to the previous year.
In 2024, Peruvian agricultural exports reached 145 markets around the world.
The minister of foreign trade and tourism, Desilú León, said: “In this way, the contribution of agriculture to the export of goods from the country increased from 15.5 per cent in 2023 to 17.1 per cent in 2024, which reaffirms the importance of the agri-export sector as a driver of development and job creation in the country”.
