Shipments up by almost a third in volume and value compared to 2020/21

With another month of the campaign still left to go, Peruvian blueberry exports have hit a new record.

According to consultancy group Fresh Fruit Peru, Peru has shipped 218,823 tonnes worth US$1.307bn so far this season.

This is an increase of 31 per cent in volume and 28 per cent in value compared with 2020/21, when exports totalled 166,943 tonnes and US$1.02bn.

For the third consecutive year, the US was Peru’s leading market, taking 121,203 tonnes worth US$715m so far this season, up 35 per cent in volume and 31 per cent value compared with 2020/21.

Shipments to Europe (the Netherlands) reached 50,849 tonnes worth US$200m, 15 per cent more in volume and 18 per cent more in value than in the previous season.
